Job Purpose :

The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing the full accounting cycle and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in line with Egyptian tax regulations and IFRS standards. The role leads the accounting team, owns the month-end and year-end closing processes, and serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities.

Key Responsibilities :

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Fixed Assets, and Inventory.
• Ensure compliance with Egyptian tax regulations, including VAT, Payroll Tax, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Income Tax.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Liaise with external auditors and manage tax inspections and statutory reporting requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
• Own the month-end and year-end closing processes from start to finish.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance.
• Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Use advanced Excel functions (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query) to support financial reporting and analysis.
• Ensure financial reporting is aligned with IFRS requirements.
• Maintain accounting records and processes within the company’s ERP system.

Qualifications : 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting .
• Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting; prior experience as a Chief Accountant, Accounting Manager, or in a similar leadership role is preferred.
• Professional certification such as CMA or an IFRS Diploma is a plus.
• Experience in audit firms, financial consultancy, retail, e-commerce, medical, education, or construction sectors are preferred.

Required Skills :

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Sound knowledge of Egyptian tax law (VAT, payroll tax, withholding tax, corporate income tax).
• Proven ability to lead and manage an accounting team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Odoo.
• Good command of English.
